SURFING

Surfing in Sayulita offers a fantastic addition to your vacation. The waves are perfect for all skill levels including beginners (first time), intermediate, and advanced surfers. Waves can break in the bay all year round with the best months being December through early April, as that is when the north swells hit. Sayulita is one of the best places in the world to learn surfing. El Punto surf school can provide lessons and rentals and caters to all ages and abilities. Stay to the left for beginners and venture right for experienced surfers.

Professional surfer, Pipe, presents a brief on land lesson where you learn his technique to surfing. Jump in the water for 90 minutes of fun. After your lesson you can keep your board all day long to practice.

SURF SPOTS PUNTA MITA

Punta Mita is usually the best surfing for the more advanced. You can reach these beaches by car or boat and the town is great for lunch or dinner. Here are the best spots:

• La lancha – 30 minutes by car. Reachable by boat or land, La Lancha is a beautiful white sand beach with a right and left breaking and every day plenty of waves. This is the perfect spot for beginners or intermediate levels.

• La Bahia - 30 minutes by car- reachable by boat only, rights and lefts all levels depending on swell.

• El Anclote – 30 minutes by car. El Anclote is also called the Mexican Malibu with its long right-handers breaking. Great for all levels and especially enjoyed on a long board.

• Burros –40 minutes by car. Another beautiful beach with a short walk through the lush jungle, with perfect rights and lefts breaking, best at least at an intermediate level.

• El Faro – best reached by boat, most incredible right-hander for intermediate to advanced level. When breaking an unforgettable spot.

SURF TRIPS BY BOAT

Surf trip by boat to Punta Mita is an only 20 minutes ride and you will have a choice of many spots depending on tide, wind and swell. Chrystal clear waters and mostly uncrowned it is worth the experience. It is also possible to drive to those surf spots by car
